What Information Is Needed for Fan Selection?

A model number alone rarely describes the complete fan duty. A useful selection begins with the air system, operating environment, installation, electrical supply, and commercial requirements.

Performance information

Provide the required airflow and pressure whenever they are available. State the units clearly and identify whether the pressure is static or total. If these values are unknown, share the space dimensions, target air changes, duct layout, or process equipment information.

Airstream and operating conditions

Temperature, dust, moisture, fumes, corrosion, oil mist, fibers, and material particles can change the suitable wheel, material, drive, motor position, coating, and maintenance approach.

Installation and electrical details

  • Indoor, outdoor, wall, roof, duct, or equipment installation
  • Available space and connection dimensions
  • Voltage, frequency, phase, and motor requirements
  • Continuous, intermittent, standby, or emergency operation
  • Quantity, destination, required date, and documentation

Photographs, layouts, existing nameplates, and drawings are especially useful for replacement or retrofit inquiries.
